Cat5e Wall Jack Not Working

The cables that are inside the walls have to go some where and be connected to something in order for them to work.

It s not enough just to have pin 1 connected to pin 1 pin 2 to pin 2 and so on. So i live in a new house we moved into it about 5 months ago when i say new i mean it s just build around 2 3 years ago the original owner put in a ethernet wall jack in each room they each consist of cat5 cat5e and coxial jacks now i pulled the backing off and they are all connected to yellow cables and blue cables ethernet cables now i went into my basement and found the yellow. You should have one pair on pins 1 and 2 another on pins 3 and 6 another on pins 4 and 5 and the last on pins 7 and 8.
The cat5 wall jacks are just like the power outlets in your house. If the wall jacks are using the more standard wire colors you have the brown and orange pairs swapped. It also appears these cable were terminated by someone who does not do it often. Each jack should have a cable that is running to a central location.
